Saturday, August 16
Depart New London & Old Saybrook by motorcoach for Bradley airport for our flight to Calgary. We will be met in arrival and transferred to our hotel.
Sunday, August 17 – Calgary, Kalispell / Whitefish, Montana
This morning journey south to the prairie lands enjoying the spectacular views of the Rockies in the distance. Visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, one of the world’s oldest and best preserved buffalo jumps, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Head-Smashed-In has been used continuously by Aboriginal people of the plains for over 5,500 years. Later, travel south through Montana where you will enjoy a scenic drive passing through quaint villages and along roads known for viewing grizzly bears, black bears, mountain goats, cougars, wolves, moose and elk before you arrive in Kalispell / Whitefish, your home for the next two nights. Monday, August 18 – Glacier National Park
Today explore Glacier National Park. A naturalist’s paradise, Glacier preserves over one million acres of forests, Alpine meadows and lakes, and is home to over 70 species of mammals and 270 species of birds. Enjoy a drive aboard one of the famous open air Jammer cars over one of the most breathtaking roads in North America, “Going to the Sun Road” which stretches for 52 miles across the Continental Divide and offers incredible views of the valley and Glacier National Park. Tuesday, August 19 – Kalispell / Whitefish – Banff, Alberta
This morning depart Montana en route to the majestic Canadian Rockies. Upon arriving in Banff, enjoy leisure time to explore its grace and beauty. Your evening features a fun-filled, award-winning dinner and show, “Oh Canada, Eh?” Enjoy a musical tribute to Canada as singing Mountie, lumberjack and other native characters serve your delicious, family-style meal in a log cabin atmosphere. Wednesday, August 20 – Banff
Begin the day with a sightseeing tour of the Banff area including stops at lovely Bow Falls and the fascinating Hoodoos, land of sleeping giants. This afternoon is at leisure. You may choose to browse through the shops and museums, or just take in the natural beauty of the area. (B)
Thursday, August 21 – Banff – Jasper
A wonderful day of sightseeing is in store for you while en route to Jasper. Journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway: behold lovely waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped mountain ranges. Stop at the Columbia Icefields for a ride on a specially built bus (weather permitting) across this mass of glacial ice which is over 1,000 feet thick. Continuing up the parkway, you may see bears and stately elk. Stop at Athabasca Falls before arriving in Jasper. (B)
Friday, August 22 – Jasper – Calgary
You leave Jasper behind and motor out of the Canadian Rockies into the prairies of Alberta. Enjoy a trip to the extraordinary Maligne Canyon before you return to the city of Calgary. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at a popular local restaurant. (B, D)
Saturday, August 23
We’re transferred to the airport for our flight back to Connecticut where our motorcoach awaits to return us to New London and Old Saybrook. (B)
